Join Midrib Plants founder to design and create your own Jam Jar Terrarium.
Little terrariums for little gardeners!
Suitable for children aged 6-10 years.
What will my child do during the workshop?
Children will be guided through the jam jar terrarium making process in this small group workshop. To create your little terrarium, children will use (non-toxic) fittonia plants, moss and all the ingredients to create a healthy substrate for plants to grow. Children will decorate their terrariums with accessories such as shells and pebbles.
What will my child learn?
Your child will gain an understanding of how to look after plants and how plants can be grown successfully under glass. Children will leave with their own unique terrarium, a pipette and an instruction sheet of how to care for their terrarium at home.
What is included and who is the workshop for?
All equipment is included, however as terrarium making can be messy we recommend wearing suitable clothing or to bring an apron! No experience or prior knowledge is necessary. Workshops last approximately 75minutes. Workshops are suitable for children aged 6-10 years and will consist of mixed ages. Cost of the workshop is per child.
***Important information for parents/guardians***
The workshop will be delivered by Midrib Plants founder (Jacqueline, female, aged 35). Jacqueline has a full and clear DBS check and holds a PG Certificate in Teaching. As our shop is a small space, we recommend leaving your child with us for the duration of the workshop. However, should you wish to observe the activity, the shop has large floor-to-ceiling windows and you are able to stand under the cover of the Harris Arcade. We do not have a toilet available for children to use. We operate a safe adult to child ratio, with no more then 8 children per session. Parents/guardians will be asked to complete a few basic questions via email, after booking. Please get in contact if you wish to see our risk assessment or child safe guarding policy.
We operate our workshops in a Covid-secure manner. Masks are a personal choice, participants will be encouraged to sanitise their hands during the workshop. We will be seated together around one large table
Glass shapes & styles are subject to availability. We promise your jam jar terrarium will be beautiful should any substitution be made!
Cancellations to workshop bookings may be made up to one week in advance of your workshop date. After this time, any cancelled bookings will be forfeited.
